Brought in my father's old Seiko quartz that hadn't been worn in years. I honestly wasn't sure what state the movement was in. The intake form made the whole thing feel properly organised — we agreed on what would be done before they touched anything. Collected it four days later, running well within spec according to the sheet they gave me. The gasket had been replaced too, which I hadn't specifically asked about but clearly needed.

Had the bracelet on my diver resized and some worn-out links looked at. The technician pointed out that two of the clasp screws were starting to strip — I hadn't noticed at all. They sourced replacements and sorted it, which pushed the job by a couple of days, but they called me ahead of time. Reasonable price for what ended up being done. Would go back for the overhaul eventually.

I got a leather strap fitted and the old one was in a worse state than I'd admitted to myself. The workshop had stock in a couple of different grain options and was patient about going through what would suit the case. The quick-release bars they fitted are noticeably better than what came original. Not the cheapest option around Damansara but the work was done properly.

The full overhaul on my chronograph took about five and a half weeks. I was updated twice during that time, once when they found the crystal needed replacing and once to confirm the timing results before collection. The paperwork at the end was genuinely useful — it lists the timing across positions and notes that pressure testing was carried out. Worth having for a piece I intend to keep for a long time.

Straightforward quartz cell job. Told them upfront I wasn't sure which cell it used, they checked and had it in stock. Done same day, picked up that afternoon. The gasket was checked as part of the service without extra charge, which was a nice thing to know about. Nothing dramatic to report — it's running, the time is right, gaskets sorted. That's what I came for.

I had a diver that had developed some hazing inside the crystal — found out during the intake inspection that the gasket had been letting in moisture for a while. The workshop laid out what this meant for the overhaul scope and what they'd recommend. I appreciated that they waited for me to confirm before doing anything. The piece came back looking considerably better than it went in.

Three Projects in Detail
Quartz Care — Inherited Seiko
Zulkifli bin Ahmad · Completed April 2025
Challenge
A quartz Seiko inherited from a relative, unused for approximately six years. Owner uncertain about internal condition; crown felt stiff, and there was concern about moisture ingress over storage.
Approach
Intake inspection found a degraded case-back gasket and a depleted cell. Crown threads were intact. New cell fitted; gasket replaced and case resealed. Timing verified on bench — fell within Seiko specification for the movement.
Outcome
Piece running accurately within four days. Owner received timing sheet. Total cost fell within the RM 490 starting price — no additions were required beyond the standard scope.
"The gasket had been replaced without me specifically asking about it — it clearly needed doing and was explained to me at collection. That's the kind of thing you don't expect."
Sports Overhaul — Pilot's Chronograph
Suresh a/l Govindan · Completed May 2025
Challenge
A pilot's chronograph in five years of consistent wear — wrist use daily, some travel. Movement had developed roughly +18 seconds per day variation across positions. Crystal showed light internal hazing on one side.
Approach
Full movement strip-down, clean, and regulation. Crystal source — found compatible replacement within the first week. Gaskets replaced; case refinished on bracelet. Pressure tested. Five and a half weeks total. Owner updated at crystal confirmation and at timing completion.
Outcome
Timing at collection: +4/−2 seconds per day across crown-up, crown-down, and dial-up positions. Pressure test completed. Crystal clear. Owner received a two-page service record with all figures.
"The timing sheet at the end is something I'll keep with the watch. Five weeks is longer than I'd have liked, but they were upfront about it from the start."
Bracelet Refit — Diver Bracelet
Lim Kai Wei · Completed April 2025
Challenge
Metal diver bracelet stretched noticeably across mid-links after three years of daily use. Clasp also showing early screw-stripping — owner had not identified this as a separate issue at intake.
Approach
Bracelet cleaned and stretch-assessed link by link. Clasp screws identified as a separate finding; owner contacted and given option to include. Replacement screws sourced (two extra days). Bracelet resized to preferred fit and reattached.
Outcome
Bracelet returned cleaned, properly fitted, with functioning clasp. Owner collected within one week of drop-off, including the sourcing time. No surprises on the invoice — both items had been quoted and confirmed separately.
"They called me about the clasp screws before doing anything about it. I said go ahead. Job was done properly. That's what I expected and that's what I got."
